Our story
Artefacts was founded in 2020 with a simple yet ambitious goal: to give life to objects that refused to fit within the confines of traditional manufacturing. Conceived by architect and designer Viktor Erlandsson as a personal experiment in uncompromised design, the brand began with a collection of hand-crafted pieces, each one produced by skilled Swedish artisans and made without concession to commercial norms.
At the heart of Artefacts lies a commitment to clarity of vision. Every object starts with a design that follows its own logic and rationale. If limitations arise, they come not from marketing demands, but from the laws of physics or the constraints of technique. Artefacts exists to explore that narrow but fertile space where intention meets material – where bold ideas take form without dilution.
Over time, what began as an independent design study has grown into a studio, a label, and a platform for products that aim to enrich everyday rituals. In 2025, Artefacts enters a new chapter, extending its practice to include objects designed for industrial production. These pieces are created with the same integrity and design clarity as before, but they are made to reach further – both in scale and accessibility – linking the industrial to the intimate. With this expansion, Artefacts sets the tone for a new line of products that remain sculptural, tactile, and deeply intentional, yet available in editions that can reach a wider audience.
Importantly, nothing is left behind. The hand-crafted artefacts remain core to the brand’s identity. Together, the two lines form a complete expression: one grounded in the local and singular, the other in the scalable and international.
Artefacts stands, now more than ever, on two feet. One planted in uncompromised craft, the other in ambitious production. Both rooted in a belief that design, at its best, is an artefact of meaning.
